Politics at Swansea University is committed to disciplinary innovation and experimentation while maintaining direct connections with the primary concerns of the subjects.

 

Members of staff are active researchers known across the globe who teach an exciting range of topics that cover every branch of the subject across many regions of the world. Specialist research and teaching includes the topics of politics, public policy, political theory, terrorism and political violence, international relations, gender, international security, human rights, international political economy and macro-political change.  

Our students have the opportunity of undertaking work placements or the internship with the Welsh Assesmbly.

Standard Entry requirements

We welcome all enquiries and applications. Our preferred offer for Single and Joint Honours is BBC at A level (excluding General Studies) or equivalent. BBC offer is made on review of the application form, after taking into consideration the subjects studied, the predicted grades, reference and personal statement. Candidates pursuing Scottish Highers, the Irish Leaving Certificate, Access courses, the International Baccalaureate, European Baccalaureate or Welsh Baccalaureate qualifications, are also eligible.

Assessment

We use a variety of teaching methods but concentrate in particular on student-led discussion and group work. At the start of the degree, teaching consists primarily of lectures and small tutorials. As you progress through our scheme you become more experienced at motivating yourself and undertake more independent and in-depth study either on your own or as part of a group.
