Alistair Kirk, History Graduate says:

I chose Swansea University because it is a campus based university where there are lots of student sports clubs and societies, it is easy to get around and meet people, and the social life is great. The location of the University could not be better; the proximity of the campus to the beach, the vibrant city centre and the surrounding parkland is fantastic. I chose History at Swansea as the course offers a great variation of topics and the modules are really interesting. They stretch from the ancient empires of China and India, to the Second World War. The expertise of the lecturers is second to none. I had a great time, met lots of people and enjoyed student life at Swansea and I couldn’t imagine studying anywhere else. I am currently employed as an Events Manager and the teamworking and presentation skills I learnt during my study are crucial to my job.

Assessment

Our teaching makes use of lectures, seminars and tutorials. Lectures provide the framework that links all aspects of the module. At the introductory level, tutorials, guided by a tutor and meeting at regular intervals, allow a small group of students to discuss an historical issue. In seminars small groups of students take the initiative in discussing historical sources or a particular historical problem. You develop your powers of analysis and argument in essays. Assessment is based on a combination of course work, examinations and (at Level 3) a final dissertation.
