Standard Entry requirements

We aim to recruit students who will thrive in our degree schemes. Our typical offers on this scheme are 280 tariff points. For candidates offering the International Baccalaureate, a typical offer for this scheme is 30.

We accept a wide range of qualifications, and welcome mature applicants and candidates from overseas. We take a positive view of candidates who offer a different arrangement of units, including two full A levels, or additional units such as AS levels, Key Skills awards, or a fourth A level. Please feel free to contact us to discuss your particular circumstances.

While passes in GCSE English and Mathematics (or equivalent qualifications) are required, A level or AS level Economics or Mathematics are not required for any of our degree schemes, where separate provision is made at Level 1 for students with and without A levels in these subjects.

All candidates accepted, conditionally or unconditionally, will be invited to visit the School.

Assessment

You will experience a variety of teaching methods during your studies at Swansea including lectures, tutorials, workshops and practical classes using our IT facilities. Assessment methods vary between different modules, but typically involve examination and coursework. Traditional lectures are supplemented at all levels by smallgroup tutorials and seminars. These allow you to get involved in discussion and debate, and allow us to contribute to your progress by providing guidance at a personal level. To help students develop business skills, the Department also enters teams into the inter-university IBM business game and reached the finals in 2005. The students’ Economics Society is very active. It invites distinguished speakers from industry and government, and organises social events, sports tournaments and excursions.
