Stand-Alone Modules

The Department of Languages, Translation and Communication offers continuing professional development modules for Professional Translation and Interpreting.  The modules delivered range from the final year of our undergraduate programme, BA Hons. Modern Languages, Translation and Interpreting and our Masters programmes in Professional Translation and Translation and Interpreting. Modules are worth a fixed amount of credits. Students passing a module gain the relevant number of credits, which may then be put toward a full award, if required. Students will receive an academic transcript and a Certificate from the College of Arts and Humanities.

Entry Requirements

Applicants who apply for stand-alone modules apply as Associate students. Our preferred offer for Associate students is BBC at A-level with a B in a Modern Language or equivalent qualifications. Applicants already working in this field are admitted as a special matriculant for undergraduate modules. International students should have an IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. However, flexible offers are made on review of the application form.

Tuition fee costs for Welsh/UK students are as follows:
Modules of 10 credits - £307
Modules of 20 credits - £614

Tution fee costs for other UK students are as follows:
Modules of 10 credits - £750
Modules of 20 credits - £1,500

Our preferred offer for Associate students is first degree, 2.1 or above in Translation, Interpreting, a Modern Language or equivalent qualifications. Applicants already working in this field are admitted as a non-graduate entrant for Masters modules. International students should have an IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. However, flexible offers are made on review of the application form.

Modules of 20 credits - £528
