The Dignity at Work and Study policy promotes the dignity of all students and staff at the University by eliminating all forms of offensive behaviour, and establishing a working and learning environment that is free from harassment and aggression.  Members of the University are to be treated with dignity and respect and to be protected from harassment and intimidation at work and study.

Enriching the lives of others

Discovery is a volunteer-led, charitable organisation that aims to enrich the lives of people in Swansea. The organisation envisages a community where people are treated as equals and are not discriminated against or disadvantaged by society.

Discovery aims to:

  • Enrich the lives of people in Swansea in order that they may fulfil their potential as empowered individuals and as members of groups and communities.
  • Offer new experiences and opportunities through a broad range of student led activities in the community leading to increased mutual understanding and equality.
  • Actively support students to be aware of their personal development and the impact on themselves and the lives of others through their involvement in community based activities.

A Healthy University

Swansea has been designated one of the World Health Organisation's 'Healthy Cities', joining an elite band of cities that are working together to improve the health of local communities. Similarly, Swansea University has been designated a Healthy University and has established a healthy network on campus with a remit to enhance the health and wellbeing of the university community. Members include representatives from:

  • The Department of Sport and Physical Recreation

The group's remit is to:

  • Establish a joined up holistic healthy ethos within the University
  • Embed health-promoting practices within the University structure
  • Encourage communication and collaboration in relation to health and well-being across the entire university community, and within the Healthy University network.
