Huw Morris is currently the Director of Academic Partnerships, and inaugural head of the new Directorate, at Swansea University.  The directorate is responsible for developing new relationships with external bodies and for managing existing academic partnerships.  Huw leads a small team which provides professional support to academic staff of the University and colleagues at partner organisations.

He previously served as the Academic Registrar at Swansea University for 15 years and prior to that worked as an Assistant Registrar in the Academic Registry.

Huw has worked with organisations, outside the university, over the years, influencing policy decisions and contributing to the changing landscape in Wales, UK and Europe. Huw was one of the first UK Bologna Experts and has continued in this role as Bologna Promoter and EHEA Expert. He has been responsible for embedding some of the Bologna principles into Swansea’s regulations; has assisted in the development of joint degrees (at Masters and Doctoral levels, including two Erasmus Mundus programmes); and has implemented some of the Bologna tools, such as the Diploma Supplement, at the university.  He is regarded as one of the UK’s experts on Joint Degrees and the Diploma Supplement (or HEAR) having given presentations in the UK and Europe.

Huw has supported the work of European Universities’ Association (EUA) by for instance, serving on Working Groups – such as ‘Mapping University Mobility of Staff and Students’ consortium; presenting at EUA-CDE conferences; and acting as a Higher Education Reform Expert, a role of advising countries outside Europe on the Bologna reforms.  He is co-author of an article which was published in the EUA’s Bologna Handbook, entitled “Bologna: a springboard to a university’s student employability and internationalisation agendas”. He was a joint organiser of the official Bologna Seminar on Employability, held in Swansea in July 2006.

In the UK, Mr Morris served as Chair of the Academic Registrars’ Council’s "Appeals and Complaints Practitioners’ Group" for 7 years; served on various QAA Working Groups, particularly relating to Collaborative Provision and Appeals & Complaints; and has also been a member of the Advisory Group of the Office of the Independent Adjudicator.

He is Chair of the Collaborative Provision Committee, withing the “Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol”  which regulates Welsh-medium collaborative education.

Huw is currently representing the UK Government on an European Advisory Group which has been charged with the task of reviewing the Diploma Supplement in Europe.  He is also leading a project, within the UK on developing a HEAR[R] for research students.

He is a graduate of the University of Aberystwyth and of the University of London.

In recognition of his contribution to French education, through the development of joint degrees, Huw has been honoured with the award of Ordre des Palmes Académiques (Chevalier) by the French Government.
