Erasmus+ Student Mobility Grants 2017-18

‌‌‌Swansea University has available up to 12 Erasmus+ International Mobility Grants awards to support its students undertaking student exchange to partner universities in Texas in the academic year 2017/18.

The maximum grant value is €4,070 and this is made up of €650 per month for a maximum of 5 months, together with a travel grant of €820.

Awards are open to full-time registered Swansea University students who have been allocated a place on a Swansea University student exchange programme to Texas for a semester or full academic year in 2017/18. These are competitive awards and scholarships will be offered on the basis of academic merit and performance.

Feedback from our students who received Erasmus+ funding to participate in student exchange to Texas shows that:

How to Apply

  • ‌‌‌‌‌In order to apply for an award students should submit the following:

  • The closing date for applications is 24th March 2017. Applications received after this date will not be considered.  Successful applicants will be notified by 7th April 2017.
  • An award panel will be convened to assess applications and will allocate awards on the basis of academic merit and anticipated academic and personal development, as well as consideration for those from disadvantaged backgrounds. The panel reserves the right to ask Heads of College to rank applications in the event that applications are tied.

Terms and Conditions

  • Successful applicants participating in study abroad for a semester will not be eligible to receive any other student exchange scholarship or bursary from Swansea University or the British American Foundation of Texas (BAFTX).
  • Successful applicants participating in study abroad for a full year will only receive the Erasmus+ International Mobility grant for 1 semester (maximum of 5 months), but will receive the Global Opportunities bursary of £1000 for the other semester.
  • Students whose application for an Erasmus+ award is unsuccessful remain eligible to undertake study abroad at their allocated destination and, if they are not in receipt of any other award (e.g. BAFTX scholarship), will receive a Texas Strategic Partnership Bursary of £1200.
  • Successful applicants will be required to sign a Global Opportunities Participation Agreement in advance of commencing their period of study abroad.
  • The Erasmus+ grant will be paid in two instalments: the first at the start of the study abroad placement and the second at the end, on submission of relevant documentation issued in the study abroad pack.
