Brighter Futures

Are you desperate to lead the good life and feel compelled to help fellow students or staff do the same?

Do you have an idea that could help students, staff or the wider community embrace a more sustainable lifestyle that enhances the wellbeing of people and the planet?

If so, we might be able to give a little financial help through the University’s Brighter Futures scheme.

What's The Aim

The aim of Brighter Futures is to help support small student-led projects which encourage students and/or staff on campus and/or the wider community to:

  • travel sustainably and enhance personal and others wellbeing and health
  • tackle climate change - reduce the use of water, energy and other resources
  • eat more locally and make more ethical purchasing decisions
  • reduce, reuse and recycle waste
  • improve the natural environment for people and wildlife
  • spread the sustainability message on or off campus

What's On Offer?

Brighter Futures can support your idea with funding of between £100 and £500. This funding can be used alone for a single project or can help fund a larger programme of student-led work.

All applications to the scheme must demonstrate that the idea or project will achieve one or more of the aims or bi-monthly campaigns set out above, and meet a range of simple criteria set out in the application form.

All monies will be spent directly from the Brighter Future Fund, not granted to the student individually.

Successful participation in Brighter Futures counts towards the overall Student Sustainability Award.
