Forming part of the HYANJI scaffold collaboration between European and Chinese universities my project has investigated the use of biopolymer, Human Embryonic and Mesenchymal Stem cells in combination for the regeneration of tendon.

During the three years I have participated on an academic exchange to both: Tsinghua University (Beijing) focused on developing and completing a pilot in vivo experiment during a 6 month period, West China School of Pharmacy focused on the controlled production of polymer nanoparticles as a vehicle for drug/growth factor delivery during a second 6 month exchange. Both exchanges in China provided me with experience of research, student supervision and clinical practice in other cultures.

European Union 7th framework HYANJI scaffold EU-China exchange programme. 6 months (May-November 2010) academic exchange to Tsinghua University, Beijing, PR China.
