I am a researcher in the Respiratory Diagnostics Group, lead by Professor Paul Lewis, at the Swansea University, School of Medicine (SUMS). With a BSc in Forensic Science and a MSc in Molecular Modelling my background includes skills in chemistry and analytics. My current role is part of a £3.5M Norwegian Research Council Grant in tailoring a Cystic Fibrosis Drug for use.
Prior to this I worked on the Celtic Alliance for Nanohealth, and Intereg funded project, and my first post doctoral role after completing my PhD here in the SUMS. My PhD focused on the development and application of a molecular dynamics platform for the analysis of DNA structure and distortion.

My main research interests involve studying biological structures such as DNA, proteins and mucins using molecular modelling techniques. These techniques include molecular dynamics, coarse grain modelling and mathematical modelling. I use these models to elucidate information as to how structural changes effect the function of the biological system. A large part of this is data analysis, all model systems produce 'large data' sets and I utilise multivariate analysis tools to decipher patterns and correlate these back to biological answers.

Further to this research role I am also involved in teaching at different levels across the school, this includes first year undergraduate tutoring and running a masters level module in Bioinformatics.
