Background: After graduating with a degree in Human Geography I joined the Geography department at Aberystwyth University where I lectured Advanced Statistical Analysis for Human Geography at undergraduate level and Applied Information Technology and Geographic Information Systems in Protected Landscape Management at postgraduate level. For the last 15 years I have worked in healthcare research covering a diverse range of topics and for the last 8 years my research has concentrated on the geography of mental health with a special focus on suicide.
