Mark is the Research Development Manager for the Research Institute for Applied Social Sciences (RIASS), drawing together research expertise within the social, human, health and environmental sciences across Swansea University to forge multi-disciplinary research collaborations with colleagues inside and outside the University.
He has a particular expertise in ageing, having completed an MSc in Ageing Studies at Swansea University in 2011 and with over ten years experience as a researcher and project manager. He worked for 6 years in Age Cymru as the Healthy Ageing Manager, securing significant external funding to develop new national health promotion programmes for older people in Wales.
Between 2011 and 2012, Mark managed the European funded Knowledge Exchange Project ‘Care in Business’, bringing together stakeholders from disparate sectors to explore how new technologies and emerging trends in the ICT sector can be exploited innovatively to meet the care needs of older people. Most recently he has worked with the Climate Change Consortium of Wales (C3W) to explore the role older people play in the mitigation of climate change.
