Teaching

  • SHBM00 Social, Cultural and Economic Context of Health

    In this module students will develop a critical understanding and appreciation of the wider context of health care management. The social, cultural and economic context within which health and illness are defined and experienced and how these impact and influence the organisation and financing of health care and health systems will be critically explored.

  • SHBM03 Leading Change and Innovation

    In this module students will develop a scholarly understanding of approaches to leading change and innovation and will be equipped to critically appraise the processes and analyse the opportunities and challenges. The module will introduce theoretical perspectives of change and innovation and explore their application into health care delivery. The emphasis will be on the module being highly interactive and dynamic with a focus on student participation to develop the knowledge, skills and culture required for innovation in the health care setting.

  • SHHM13 Advanced Practice: Management and Leadership

    This module provides students with the opportunity to critically examine their role in relation to management and leadership issues. The focus will be on providing the student with knowledge and skills to enhance their practice.

  • SHHM55 Introduction to Research, Evidence based Practice and Reflection for Physicians Associates

    This module will be a compulsory module within the MSc / Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) Physician¿s Associate Studies and reflects compulsory curriculum content. The module aims to introduce students to the main research paradigms including the principles of research, and the ability to appraise research to provide an evidence base for their personal practice. Students will also be introduced to reflective practice and its value in enabling reflection on clinical learning and the development of clinical competence.
