Research

Fracture Mechanics
Integral Bridges
Fatigue Assessment
Non-linear Concrete Modelling.

I graduated in Swansea University with First Class Honour Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with further studies of Master of Science and Doctorate degrees at Swansea University, specialising in Fracture Mechanics.

I work as a professional civil and structural engineer with extensive design and management experience in large scale national and international projects, including buildings and bridges. Key areas of strength are design of bridges in various structural forms, cut and cover underground rail stations, rail infrastructures, large span space frame steelwork structures, finite element analysis, fracture mechanics and fatigue assessment in steel material. I have design and management experience in highway and railway bridges, deep excavation with soil-structure interaction. I am currently Associate Engineer to lead technical aspects of civil and structural projects for Atkins Cardiff and Swansea Offices within the Transportation Department.

Teaching

  • EG-328 Superstructure Design

This module aims to develop design techniques, understanding of structural behaviour for steel and concrete structural building frames from low rise to tall building applications, forms of bridges and the concept of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).
