I am French and studied in France before moving to Great Britain. After a Baccalauréat B (Economics and Social Sciences) I went on to study English literature and civilisation at the Université Toulouse-le-Mirail. There, I obtained a Licence-ès-Lettres and a Maîtrise-ès-Lettres. After spending some time in various places in North England, first as a French Assistante and then as a French Lectrice, I decided to remain in Great Britain.
I first took a PGCE course in French at the University of York and taught French for a year at Glossopdale Community College. I then decided to do a PhD in the French Department at the University of Edinburgh. My PhD thesis was on the novels and autobiographical writings of Françoise Sagan. I joined the French Department at Swansea University in September 1995.
