A qualified accountant with commercial experience of the public (local government) and private (insurance) sectors. Appointed to the Chair of Corporate Finance in 1999. Previously at the University of Bath, University of Glasgow and Massey University, New Zealand. Professor Adams' research interests are in the accounting, finance, economics and management aspects of insurance and risk. His work has appeared in several practitioner magazines and over 50 scholarly journals as well as national and international conference proceedings. Professor Adams is thrice joint-winner of the Shin Insurance/Geneva Association Research Excellence Award presented by the International Insurance Society in Singapore (2002), New York (2003), and Jordan (2009). Professor Adams heads the Accounting and Finance at the School of Business and Economics.
