Dr Ieuan Williams

Specialist Subjects: The Hollywood Film Industry and American Culture; American Political Philosophy; Modern American Art; the Influence of European Immigrants on American Academic Culture and Science.

Ieuan Williams graduated with a BA in Philosophy from the University of Swansea in 1971. He then went to the University of Stirling to read for a Ph.D. in philosophy. After completing his Ph.D. he lectured in Philosophy for six years at Edinburgh University before returning to Swansea in 1980 as a lecturer in Philosophy. From 1985 to 1990 he was Secretary of the UK Association for Legal and Social Philosophy and in 1989 one of the organizers of the 14th World Congress in Social Philosophy held at the University of Edinburgh. In 2001 he became involved in creating a new department of Media and Communication Studies at Swansea and taught several modules in the field of film studies between 2001 and 2006. In 2007 he joined the Department of American Studies to teach modules on American film and on ethical issues in American domestic and foreign policy.
