Surfing

Gower has some of the best surfing beaches in the UK, including Llangenith and Langland. If you have never ventured into the sea with a board and wetsuit before, yo ucan join one of the surf schools, which offer lessons and equipment hire. Experienced surfers will enjoy the variety of beach and reef breaks and will be able to make the most of those pumping autumn and winter swells. Cycling Mountain Biking and Cycling
Afan Forest Park on Swansea's doorstep, is Britain's fastest growing dedicated mountain bike centre. Expect twisted, exposed single-track sections and ridge to valley-bottom breathtaking descents. Afan also has the 24-mile Celtic High Level scenic trail, a unique point-to-point ride that takes you past prehistoric forts and Roman camps. Within Swansea there are numerous rides, including the flat cycle path of the bay and Gower cross-country routes with epic views.
Hiking and Walking
The Brecon Beacons lie to the North of Swansea and are astonishing to look at and great to climb with peaks galore. Caves and waterfalls dot the expansive landscape which is explored regularly by The Athletic Union club. Gower footpaths offer walks in Britain's first designated area of outstanding natural beauty.
Golf
There are numerous links and parkland courses around Swansea, many of which have commanding coastline views.
Running and Jogging
The promenade along Swansea Bay that extends from the Marina to Mumbles passes the University and is an excellent run. The annual 10k run held each September in the city is always voted one of the best in the UK.
Triathlon
Swansea has the perfect environment for the sport and hosted the 2003 Great Wales Triathlon for many of the world's leading athletes.
