The range of activities available provide a balance to the University community's academic and administrative work routines. Whether it be to take part casually, to join an informal class or to compete at tournament and league level - support is available from the staff of the University’s Sketty Lane Sports Centre and from the Students’ Athletic Union, operating from the Union building on the main campus.
Whatever your inclination may be, the rewards and benefits of participation will help make your days at Swansea University pleasant and enjoyable.

Outdoor facilities include tennis courts, rugby, football, lacrosse and cricket pitches. These are located at the Sports Centre and at Fairwood playing fields on the Gower. For students living in the Hendrefoelan student village, there are on-site tennis / 5-a-side courts.

It is refreshing to find a university that shares the commitment and ambitions of those who take their sport seriously, and at Swansea sport really matters. Swansea University has a growing reputation as a high achieving research-led university, but is just as serious about promoting physical achievement and "sport for all" alongside academic success.
The University has produced numerous talented sportsmen and women over the years, many of whom have gone on to represent their countries in international competitions. Some have been products of the "Elite Athletes" scholarship scheme, (for more information on this visit the Athletic Union) while others have enhanced their potential as a result of the competitive and supportive environment here in Swansea.

The Wales National Pool can accommodate a wide variety of fitness activity along with conference services and sports science support. Classes, lessons and free swimming are available at convenient times the year round. More information...
Swimming at Swansea aims to provide a pathway to excellence and provide first class support to talented athletes via high quality training opportunities and support services. Swim Wales is the National Governing Body for swimming in Wales and is committed to increasing the quality of participation and the quality of performance throughout the country.
University swimming is clearly linked with Swim Wales with the approach of the need for swimmers at the "training to compete" and the "training to win" stages to have the appropriate hours of training per week, as well as, where possible, an appropriate amount of long course training (50 metres) per week. Wales National Pool Performance Centre is the home of a team of dedicated coaches with specific roles, British, national and academic performance and Club levels.
