Student wins Mathematics Teaching Training Scholarship

Congratulations to Natalie Freestone for being awarded a £20,000 scholarship for teacher training from the IMA/LMS/RSS.

Natalie said: “I have always wanted to teach mathematics so when I received an email from the department outlining a scholarship I knew I had to go for it. After application processes, mathematical tests, video rounds, group interviews and finally an individual interview I was successful. With the scholarship I will get the £20,000 bursary as well as formal recognition of my abilities and enthusiasm for teaching, early career support, membership of a Scholarship Community of Practice and chance to attend many different conferences that will help me along the way. All of the staff in Swansea's Maths department were supportive by answering any questions and being more than willing to write references for me. I am very proud of my achievement and would like to thank the staff at Swansea University for helping me get there.”
