In August, Dr Ian Rutt, Department of Geography and PhD student Sue Cook visited CSC - IT Centre for Science, in Espoo, Finland. The visit was funded under an EU programme, HPC-Europa2, to allow transnational access to high-performance computing resources. While there, we Ian Rutt and Sue Cook worked with Dr Thomas Zwinger on the numerical modelling of iceberg calving from tidewater glaciers. The work is a part of Sue Cook's PhD project, and she led the funding application.
