Jellyfish detect ocean currents

Jellyfish are not merely drifters but have the ability to detect the direction of ocean currents

Barrel JellyfishITV News, BBC Online and Noodls report that Professor Graeme Hays and  Dr Sabrina Fossette from the department of Biosciences, have found that some jellyfish have a remarkable ability to detect the direction of ocean currents and to swim strongly against them.

Their findings are being published in the Cell Press journal Current Biology.
