BBC Science Café discussion on Stephen Hawking's 'A Brief History of Time'
On 9 June, Dr Prem Kumar of the Department of Physics joined a panel discussion on BBC Science Café celebrating the 25th anniversary of the publication of Professor Stephen Hawking's `A Brief History of Time'. Dr Kumar touches on some of the ideas conveyed in the book including Black Holes and the inherent conflict between Quantum Mechanics and Einstein's theory of General Relativity, the two pillars of fundamental physics. The theme of the discussion revolves around the impact of the book, how it inspired the wider public to get excited about fundamental science and stimulated a number of budding physicists to pursue a life of research into the fundamental physical and mathematical laws underpinning our universe.'
