August summer school 2017
We are holding our annual science summer school for year 12/13s in South West Wales, between the 7th and 10th August 2017.
To sign up, you will need to fill in the application form. We will then send you a consent form for your parent/guardian to complete, and confirm that you are accepted onto the course.
When? Monday 7th – Thursday 10th August 2017
Where? Swansea University, Singleton Park campus, SA2 8PP
Cost? ABSOLUTELY FREE and we provide lunch and travel costs too!
What will I be doing?
Arrive and settle into halls of residence
Myth busting climate change
Meet the program organiser and your student ambassadors; meet some of the academics teaching you over the week; settle into your room and have a look around campus
Learn about the albedo effect; create the greenhouse effect in a bottle
|Tuesday||Dissection and animal adaptations||Learn how animals survive in our oceans; perform dissection to better understand how their biology differs; see real live sea creatures from our coastline|
|Wednesday||Space exploration and hunting for exoplanets||Take a guided tour of space in a mobile planetarium; use our state-of-the-art optics lab; learn how NASA finds new planets; use LEGO Mindstorms to hunt for your own|
