Located in Swansea's Maritime Quarter, the provides a focus for environmental information, education and action. Working environment: one third office based, one third public events, and one third outside/practical work. A typical intern should ideally be flexible, willing to work with others and, above all, have an interest in environmental issues.
Based in the Environment Centre (see above), this is a charity which organises practical conservation projects for local government, schools, nature reserves, private companies and landowners. internships include "on the job" training in a range of practical conservation skills, and the opportunity to work in some of the most attractive parts of Swansea and the West Wales area. The working environment is mainly outdoors and interns should be prepared to "muck in" and do hands on activities.
Wales is part of a national UK organisation called the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. Located west of Swansea near the town of Carmarthen, the Wetlands Centre provides an exciting internship for a student interested in natural and animal sciences or general conservation issues. Buses depart regularly from Swansea Quadrant bus station, allow one hour for travel and an additional £40 ($70) for travel costs.
