Dr Jeanette Hewitt
Dr Jeanette Hewitt is academic lead for research integrity and associate professor in the college of human and health science. She lectures in research ethics, suicide and serious mental illness.
Jeanette was appointed as a lecturer in Swansea University in 2001 and completed her Doctoral studies in rational suicide and schizophrenia. She has been researching aspects of suicide and self-harm, mental capacity and serious mental illness and research ethics. Particular research interests are in challenging assumptions of mental incapacity associated with serious mental illness and compulsory treatment.
Jeanette has collaboratively developed the Patient Experience and Evaluation of Research group, which trains service users and carers in research methods and ethics, in order to help shape service user and carer research in health and social care.
Jeanette is a board member of the European Association of Centres for Medical Ethics and an editorial board member of EACME.
