29 March: DT lecture and poetry reading (with Kate North, Cardiff Metropolitan Uni), Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham Poetry Festival.


13 April: speaker on special DT panel ‘The Place of DT in Welsh Writing in English Today’ (with Profs Tony Brown and Jane Aaron) at AWWE (Association for Welsh Writing in English) Annual Conference, Gregynog.

27 April – 11 May: co-organizer of visit of Professor Wu Fu-Shen of University of Salt Lake City to Wales and Swansea (for work on the first translation of DT into Mandarin Chinese (see below, 6 May).

29 April: lecture on Under Milk Wood, Egg Auditorium, Theatre Royal, Bath.



2-5 May: participant in BBC Laugharne Radio Festival, as one of 2 BBC official experts (with Jeff Towns). 

4 May: guide (with Jeff Towns) for Literature Wales-organized tour as part of ‘A Dylan Odyssey’ programme: ‘DT’s Taf Estuary: Sir John, the Gulled Birds and the Argentinean’: Radio Wales interview (see above); short film interview for BBC Dylan Thomas website.

6 May: presenter of Wu Fushen at paper on translating Chinese poetry into English, at Translation Studies seminar at  Swansea University and poetry reading (with Graham Hartill) Noah’s Yard, Uplands. Joint project involving RIAH and Swansea City Council.   

14 May: lecture on Dylan Thomas to Swansea University Women’s Society, Sketty Hall. 

20 May: Bishop Vaughan Annual Memorial Lecture, on ‘Legends of the green chapels: DT and Religion’, Oystermouth Church, Saints Alive Festival.



13 and 14 June: DT lecture and poetry reading at Charles Causley Poetry Festival, Launceston, Cornwall. 

27 June: opening of Dylan Thomas painting show by Annie Giles Hobbs, Philip Jacobs, etc, Oriel Gallery, Taliesin Centre, Swansea University.



6 July: talk on DT, myth and storytelling, interviewed by Erica Wagner (former Literary Editor of the Times), at Beyond the Border: Wales’ International Storytelling Festival, St Donat’s Castle, Vale of Glamorgan. 

7 July: DT talk at Dartington Festival (‘Ways With Words’). 

13 July: DT talk, plus poetry reading, Stratford-upon-Avon Literature Festival.

18 July: DT lecture at Buxton Festival.



3-5 September: keynote speaker at ‘Dylan Unchained’ conference, Swansea University

6 September: guide (with Jeff Towns) for Literature Wales-organized tour as part of ‘A Dylan Odyssey’ , ‘DT, The Kardomah Gang, the Actor and the Comedian’, the Uplands, Swansea.

11 September: panel member for 'The Legacy of Dylan Thomas Symposium'.

19 September: keynote speaker at 'Shame and the Act of Writing' Symposium at Warwick University

20 September: lecture on DT, Swansea Central Library. 'To others caught between black & white': Dylan Thomas and the poetics of Swansea. 2.00pm-3.30pm.




1 October: Poetshub Event. Professor John Goodby discusses his role as editor of the Centenary Edition of The Collected Poems By Dylan Thomas."

6-24  October: DT lecture, Wellington Literature Festival, Shropshire. 

11 October, keynote speaker at ‘Resounding Dylan’ symposium, Cambridge University:

25 October: 'Dylan Thomas in Fitzrovia Festival':

13.45 - 15.00, Chancellor's Hall, Senate House, University of London: round table discussion with Andrew Lycett on Dylan Thomas's life and art.

16.15 - 17.15, New College of the Humanities, talk 'That country kind': Dylan Thomas as a green poet.

26-27 October: part of Swansea University’s research showcase, Houston, College Station and Austin, Texas 

30 October: Professor John Goodby discusses new edition of Dylan Thomas: Collected Poems 1934-1953, Orion / New Directions, Dylan Thomas Centre, Swansea
