Dylan Thomas Creative Writing Workshops are going Online
Dylan Thomas creative writing workshops will be going directly to classrooms on the web through Literature Wales’ Developing Dylan Live.
Hundreds of classes across the UK will find out fascinating facts about Dylan Thomas and will write poetry inspired by the famous writer. These 50-minute live and interactive explorations of the magic of Dylan Thomas’ work are tailored to bring out the creative side in pupils of all abilities in years 6 and 7 (Keys Stages 2 and 3).
The English-language workshop will be led by Dylan Thomas’ granddaughter Hannah Ellis, and author of the Rugby Zombies trilogy Dan Anthony, while the Welsh-language workshop will be led by acclaimed poet Eurig Salisbury, and musician Owain Griffiths. Workshop leaders can be sent messages and questions during Developing Dylan Live through the Developing Dylan Facebook page and Twitter.
The workshops will explore writing about the local areas and characters of every school through the theme ‘Our Town’.
The Developing Dylan Live English-language workshop with Hannah Ellis and Dan Anthony will take place on Thursday 12 February 2015.
The Developing Dylan Live Welsh-language workshop with Eurig Salisbury and Owain Griffiths will take place on Wednesday 4 March 2015.
Developing Dylan Live is a Literature Wales project supported by Swansea University’s DylanED educational project within the College of Arts and Humanities and the Welsh Government’s Department for Education and Skills.
