David Britton play On Thursday 22 November 2012, Taliesin presents the return of David Britton’s one-man play about the life of the great Welsh statesman David Lloyd George. The Welsh Wizard was a giant of 20th Century global politics, but with his colourful personal life, leaves the nation divided about him. How could a Welsh-speaking chapel boy from a small village in Gwynedd become the steely statesman who saw Britain through the Great War?

Award winning writer/director David Britton (Department of English Language and Literature, Swansea University) and BAFTA-winning actor Richard Elfyn have created an exhilarating performance, and a fascinating insight into the mystery, charm, poetry and humour of Lloyd George’s extraordinary life which we hope will inspire some interesting classroom discussion.

Superbly engaging performance…The writer is a master of the arresting, beautiful and succinct metaphors and allegories…. An exquisite and rewarding entertainment.  Theatre Wales

Elfyn’s performance is a veritable tour de force, managing to capture the essence of the man in a wholly convincing and persuasive manner…. Western Mail

‘Absolutely spell-binding: beautifully conceived…superbly acted’ Prof. Neil Reeve, Swansea University
