As part of the Dylan Thomas festival, Dr Fflur Dafydd, Department of English Language and Literature, Swansea University, will launch her new novel The White Trail, in the New Stories from the Mabinogion series, published by Seren Books.  In this novel, she transforms ‘Culhwch and Olwen’ into a 21st century quest for love and revenge. The book has already received enthusiastic reviews, with The Guardian stating that “Dafydd seamlessly amalgamates the extraordinary into the everyday.” This reworking of a popular Arthurian romance is the author’s fifth novel, which follows the success of Twenty Thousand Saints, (Winner of the Oxfam Hay Emerging Writer Award), and her Welsh-language novels, Atyniad and Y Llyfrgell (winners of the Prose Medal and the Daniel Owen Memorial Prize at the National Eisteddfod.)

Professor M. Wynn Thomas will chair the event, and will be in conversation with Dr Dafydd and Horatio Clare, who will also be launching a book in the series.

The event will be held on Thursday 3 November 2011 in the Dylan  Thomas Centre, Swansea and begin at 7.30 pm.  Free entry and light refreshments, in association with Seren Books.
