Conference: Experiment and Experience Ancient Egypt and the Present

Ancient Egypt in the present

The Department of History and Classics and Swansea University's Egypt Centre will host an international conference bringing together experimental archaeology with experiential approaches to discover ancient Egypt’s past.  This conference will demonstrate the usefulness of both experimental and experiential archaeology for understanding ancient Egyptian technology in a unique way. Along with traditional theoretical lectures, speakers will engage the participants through practical demonstrations and participatory workshops. This event is hosted by an academic institution and a museum and will include academics, artists, craftspeople, the public, and students. While the focus is on Ancient Egypt, the approaches are interdisciplinary and involve the humanities, arts, and physical sciences.

The conference will be held on the 10–12 May 2010 in Faraday Lecture Theatre A at Swansea University and for further information please visit the conference weblink
