The Study of Postcolonialism in the Social Sciences and Humanities

The end-of-year conference of the Language-Based Area Studies pathway of the ESRC Wales Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) will be take place on Monday and Tuesday, 1 & 2 July 2013 in Swansea University.  

The theme of the conference will be ‘The Study of Postcolonialism in the Social Sciences and Humanities’ and it will address a number of areas within the field of postcolonial studies, including

  • Internal Colonialism
  • Postcolonial Politics
  • Minority Cultures
  • Language and Imperialism
  • Culture and Imperialism
  • Wars of Decolonisation
  • Trauma and Memory Transmission
  • and Epistemological violence.

The conference is intended primarily for research students in Swansea and Cardiff Universities funded by the Economic and Social Research Centre (ESRC), but it will be open to research students in any of the UK DTCs funded by the ESRC.
