Research Impact Fund

IAA Research Impact Fund

One of the cornerstones of EPSRC’s commitment to maximising impact of their investments is their investment in Impact Acceleration Accounts (IAAs). Therefore, since 2012 Swansea University utilises the IAA funding to develop and implement a programme of innovative approaches that will transform the impact of its EPSRC research portfolio. This is achieved through prioritising research areas encompassing health, energy, manufacturing, computer science, technical development and associated disciplines.

After completing the first stage of the Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) project with a great success, EPSRC has awarded Swansea University further funding to carry on supporting the development of Impact from our EPSRC funded research portfolio from 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2020.

£300,000 of this funding is allocated to support secondment, early stage commercialisation/Proof of Concept and Collaboration / business/ end user engagement projects in health, energy, manufacturing, computer science, technical development, and associated STEM subject areas over the next three years.

Therefore IAA RIF call will support;

  • Secondments up to £5,000
  • Early Stage Commercialisation / Proof of Concept up to £5,000
  • Collaboration / Business/ End User Engagement  up to £5,000

The first call for RIF applications was launched in May 2017. After receiving 56 applications for Call 1, we were able to offer funding to 33 successful winners, which were announced in July 2017.

Call 2 is NOW OPEN. The deadline for 2018 applications is midnight on Wednesday 11th July 2018
