Students represent Swansea University at annual FLUX 500 business challenge

Swansea University and enterprise were represented once again at one of the UK’s largest inter-University business challenge competitions, FLUX, this January (6-7th 2016). Held annually at Lancaster University, the event sees Universities from around the UK compete over two days to solve a business challenge using the Business Planning Tool, Xing.

The team chosen to represent Swansea University were selected from an internally held competition organised by the University’s Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership (IfEL) during Global Entrepreneurship Week in November 2015. The competition was open to all students, and as a result the chosen FLUX team comprised of a mix of students from Business, Economics and Engineering.

The FLUX challenge for 2016 was to come up with a business solution for an ailing department store. Testing teamwork, problem solving, creativity and innovation, over an intense two days, the Swansea University team worked extremely hard and came up with a fantastic and innovative idea which involved having a personal shopper help customers shopping online. The overall 2016 winners of FLUX were Manchester Metropolitan University.

Swansea University Enterprise Manager, Dave Bolton, who attended the two day event with the Swansea University team stated that:

“FLUX is a great experience for all involved. The skills and experience our students gain from the event is immense and it’s a fantastic opportunity for our students to connect with those from other Universities in the UK”.
