ERC is a priority for Swansea University and thanks to the hard work of colleagues over the past year we have submitted some strong ERC applications across the University.

We are now inviting expressions of interest for the Advanced (deadline: 31st August 2017) Starting (anticipated deadline: Oct 2017); and Consolidator (anticipated deadline: Feb 2018) grants.  If you meet the following criteria for either level of grant and would like to be considered, please fill out the attached relevant expression of interest form by 2nd March 2017.

Eligibility for Starting Grant

  • 2-7 years of experience since the completion of your PhD (plus 18 months for each child for maternity leave or other ‘eligible career breaks’ such as long-term illness)
  • Have produced at least one important publication without the participation of your PhD supervisor
  • Can demonstrate a promising track-record of early achievements appropriate to your research field and career stage, including significant publications (as main author) in major international peer-reviewed multidisciplinary scientific journals, or in the leading international

Eligibility for Consolidator Grant

  • 7-12 years of experience since completion of PhD  (plus 18 months for each child for maternity leave or other ‘eligible career breaks’ such as long-term illness)
  • Have produced several important publications without the participation of your PhD supervisor
  • Can demonstrate a promising track-record of early achievements appropriate to your research field and career stage, including significant publications (as main author) in major international peer-reviewed multidisciplinary scientific journals, or in the leading international peer-reviewed journals of your respective field.

Eligibility for Advanced Grant

  • Senior active researchers with over 12 years’ experience since completion of PhD
  • Track-record of significant research achievements in the last 10 years
  • Exceptional leaders in terms of originality and significance of their research contributions

This process will identify the strongest potential applicants/projects so the appropriate planning and support can be put in place to ensure the proposals reach their full potential leading up to the call deadlines.
