Laboratory Space Project

The Laboratory Spaces project seeks to make more efficient use of teaching laboratories within the University by exploring the potential for Colleges to share these facilities.

Bringing the management, maintenance and development of these laboratories together will enable Swansea University to better meet the demands expected with increases in student numbers, and will also help us to minimise the costs associated with that expansion.

The project team have been working and consulting with colleagues across the University, and the first phase of Shared Labs is well into implementation. Lab refurbishment is taking place in Margam, enabling the suite of labs across Margam and Wallace to be shared between the College of Science, and Swansea University Medical School.

We are also working together with colleagues to define and agree roles, responsibilities and ways of working, to support the operation of labs across the two Colleges.
