Knowledge Transfer Centre for the Printing of Functional Materials
Print FM
In addition to the extensive facilities for commercial & packaging printing the WCPC has created a Knowledge Transfer Centre for Functional Materials. With open access facilities supporting the use of printing as a major disruptive technology for efficient, environmentally friendly advanced manufacturing for applications as diverse as automotive, garments, packaging and point of care medical diagnostics. This allows the opportunity for conventional print facilities to move in to new market sectors. The creation of this Knowledge Transfer Centre for the Printing of Functional Materials enables Welsh industries to be innovators and technology leaders in the exploitation of printing as a manufacturing process, leading to the development of high value added high technology products. Current work on emerging technologies such as printed electronics and biosensors offers exciting and interesting opportunities for both industry and graduates. This complements the existing support that the WCPC already offers to companies on areas such as quality and productivity improvements, process mapping and solutions to specific problems.
