The Egypt Centre volunteers are a key element of the museum, guiding visitors round Wales’ largest collection of Egyptian Antiquities and demonstrating activities such as Mummification.  Visitors are also able to learn the ancient board game Senet as well as handle genuine ancient Egyptian artefacts.  Four of the Egypt Centre team travelled to the awards ceremony in London at the prestigious 8 Northumberland Avenue.

The Egypt Centre’s Museum Volunteer Manager, Syd Howells said;

“The recognition of making the shortlist of six in the category of Volunteer Team of the Year is a testimony to the commitment and continuing excellence of our group of volunteers.  Without them the museum could not offer the visitor experience that defines the Egypt Centre.  They are all a credit to the museum and to Swansea University.”
