The first in the series of free community lectures 2016-7 organised by Swansea University’s Department of Adult Continuing Education (DACE), at the College of Arts and Humanities will commemorate the Aberfan disaster, 50 years ago.

This talk by Swansea University historian, Dr Martin Johnes will explore the government’s handling of the Aberfan disaster, showing how the interests of the village were side-lined amidst arguments over money and the future of the coal industry. The result was a series of injustices inflicted upon a community already suffering unimaginable loss.
This first lecture is in conjunction with the Local Studies Service, Swansea Libraries.
