Teachers from across Wales are invited to come along to this year’s annual Technocamps Teachers Conference, due to be held at the Swansea Marriott Hotel later this month (30th June).

The event which attracts over 100 teachers is celebrating the success of the ESF Technocamps project, where teachers will be invited from across Wales to give their account of their engagement with the project. This will include showcasing how they have introduced Computer Science into the classroom, providing some great ideas and resources for teachers and educators to expand their knowledge and expertise.

Teachers include Vicki Price, Head of Information Communication Technology at Sir Thomas Picton School in Pembrokeshire, Lucy Bunce, Assistant Headteacher at Y Pant School, Llantrisant, David Owen, Head of Technology, Ruthin School, Clwyd and Mark Davies, Information and Communication Technology Teacher at Ysgol Bro Pedr, Lampeter.

The event will also provide an insight into the future of Technocamps, with ESF funding coming to an end in September 2014, Professor Faron Moller, Director of Technocamps will share his future plans for this exciting programme that has been at the heart of the Computer Science in Swansea University since 2003.

Other speakers will include Bethan Lee, Systems ICT and Development Officer from Neath Port Talbot Libraries, Fujitsu and Professor Matt Jones, Head of Computer Science Department at Swansea University, who will give an insight into the plans for a new ICT Precinct on the new Bay Campus.

Professor Faron Moller, Director of Technocamps, said, ‘This year’s event will provide teachers and educators with plenty of material that they can use as part of their teaching of Computer Science in school.  Technocamps has worked with many teachers and educators over the past 4 years and so the project wants to highlight the great work that they have been doing as a direct result of their engagement with the project.’

The event will also provide a great networking opportunity for teachers, educators and other delegates across the ICT Industry.
