SOFTWARE developers in Swansea are being given free expert help in building client-side web applications.

Tim Ruffles, founder of Sidekick.js, is delivering a one-day workshop on Backbone – a powerful JavaScript library – at TechHub Swansea on Wednesday, January 15.

The Backbone Bootcamp has been organised by TechHub Swansea and Software Alliance Wales, a Swansea University-led initiative that supports those working in the field of software engineering.

TechHub Swansea is a flexible workspace where tech entrepreneurs can meet, work, learn and collaborate. It is based on Wind Street, Swansea.

Tim Ruffles, who regularly speaks at user-groups and conferences and teaches Backbone at General Assembly, Decoded and Event Handler, said: “By attending the Backbone Bootcamp, developers will gain skills while expanding their knowledge across the technology stack.”

Dr Neal Harman, Head of Teaching at Swansea University’s Department of Computer Science and Director of Software Alliance Wales, added:

“Wales is fast becoming a tech savvy country; with innovative start-ups and established IT companies working closely with Welsh universities to develop high calibre, talented graduates with the high level skills demanded by the growing IT sector.”
