Swansea University Strengthens Links with China

On September 15, Swansea University welcomed a delegation from the Chinese Embassy to discuss how to strengthen the existing link between Swansea University and China and explore further collaboration at the invitation of Dr Weixi Xing, Director of China Centre in the University’s Department of Research and Innovation.

Mr Shen Yang, Minister Counsellor for Education Section along with First Secretary, Mr Qiao Fenghe and Third Secretary, Miss Cai Hong visited several departments across the University during the visit.

The delegation toured the University’s Centre for NanoHealth and Institute of Life Sciences. They visited the Welsh Centre for Printing and Coating, which is one of the world’s leading centres for research and development of printing and coating processes.

And they also visited the University’s Digital Technium, an innovation centre which acts as a base for international companies seeking a foothold in the UK market.

The visit also consisted of a meeting with Swansea University’s Vice- Chancellor, Professor Richard B Davies, Professor Steve Conlan, Director of Centre for NanoHealth and Professor Steve Wilks, Head of the College of Science.

Dr Weixi Xing, Director of the China Centre in the University’s Department of Research and Innovation said: ‘‘It was a pleasure to welcome the Chinese Embassy delegation to Swansea University. The visit was very successful and enabled us to identify exciting opportunities for collaboration in future.’’
