The achievements of around 3,000 students will be celebrated next week during Swansea University’s Summer Degree and Award Congregations, which take place from Monday, July 16 until Friday, July 20.

The 12 congregations will take place in the City and County of Swansea’s Brangwyn Hall, where undergraduate and postgraduate students will receive their awards, watched by their families and friends, University officials, academic staff, representatives of the Students’ Union, civic officers and local dignitaries.

Professor Richard B Davies, Vice-Chancellor of Swansea University, said: “As we once again approach the happiest occasion in the academic year, I would like to offer my warmest congratulations to our students graduating next week.

“The Degree and Award Congregations herald the successful conclusion of years of dedication and effort by our students to complete a degree programme.  Our graduates can take justifiable pride in what they have achieved – the qualifications and higher level skills required to pursue a fulfilling and rewarding career – and I wish them every success for the future.

“The congregations also allow the opportunity to recognise the important role that friends and families play in supporting and encouraging our students throughout their years of study.”

The degrees and awards will be received by graduands from the College of Arts and Humanities, College of Medicine, and the Department of Adult Continuing Education (DACE) on Monday; the College of Business, Economics and Law on Tuesday; the College of Human and Health Sciences on Wednesday; the College of Engineering on Thursday; and the College of Science on Friday.

“We have been equipping students for exceptional personal and professional achievement since 1920,” added Professor Davies.

“Our long history of working closely with industry ensures that our degrees meet employers’ needs, and that our world-class research has a real impact on the health, wealth, culture, and well-being of our society.

“We also provide an award-winning student experience and unrivalled location, so it should come as no surprise that generations of students have found their time in Swansea to be both life and career-enhancing.

“I hope that our graduates will look back with great affection to their time at Swansea.”
