Fans' memories of Swansea City - Swans 100 project

Please note, this page has been archived and is no longer being updated.

On 7 September 1912, Swansea Town played their first professional game, against Cardiff City. As today's Swans fly high in the Premier League, a project based in the University history department is capturing fans' memories of the club during its first century.

The Swans100 project is a joint venture between the Swansea City Supporters Trust and Swansea University.

The aim is to create an on-line archive of the experiences of Swansea City fans.  Over the past year, the project team, led by Phil Bethell, have been out and about capturing memories and memorabilia to photograph for the archive.

See pictures from the archive, including:

- the programme from the first ever game

- match reports from the 1912 game

- fans from the 1920s, 1960s and today

Many of the fans’ memories captured during the Swans 100 project feature in a new 192-page colour hardback book, “Swansea ‘til I Die – a century of supporting the Swans”. (£15.99).   Published by Swansea City Supporters Trust, as part of the Swans 100 project, based at Swansea University.   Available from the Club Shop at the Liberty Stadium, and on-line from www.swanssuperstore.com

There will also be a Swans100 Activity Day at the Waterfront Museum on Sunday 16th September.
