Winter Degree and Award Congregations mark students’ achievements

The achievements of more than 500 undergraduate and postgraduate students will be celebrated at Swansea University’s Winter Degree and Award Congregations.

The Winter Congregations, for students who have successfully completed their studies since July 2011, will take place at the city’s Brangwyn Hall, where students will be joined by their families and friends, University officials, academic staff, representatives of the Students’ Union, civic officers and local dignitaries.

The degrees and awards will be received by students from the College of Arts and Humanities, College of Engineering, College of Science, and the College of Business, Economics and Law on Thursday and by students from the College of Human and Health Sciences and the Department of Adult Continuing Education on Friday.

Professor Alan Speight, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Student Experience and Academic Quality Enhancement at Swansea University, said: “Students come to Swansea from all over the world, attracted by an ambitious research-led institution with an international reputation for high-quality teaching and learning, and with one of the best student experiences available.

“Our Degree and Award Congregations allow us to recognise publicly the high level of commitment and hard work demonstrated by our students, which has enabled them to achieve the qualifications and higher level skills required to pursue a fulfilling and rewarding career and achieve their personal ambitions.

“I would like to congratulate each and every one of our students receiving an award at this year’s Winter Congregations and wish them every success as they progress in their chosen field.
