Swansea University - How Will I Study?

How Will I Study?

Students will study on a part-time basis, easily fitting in the programme with a professional career.

Beginning in October, six four-day residential blocks of study take place at Swansea University’s Singleton Park campus. Six single day seminars are also arranged. Students will be expected to meet the cost of any overnight accommodation and subsistence during the conferences.

Part one modules are taught over two years, and part two dissertations are submitted by 15th October of the third year.

A Student Perspective

Ian Stevens, 44, began the programme in 2004. With a previous degree in Physiotherapy, he wanted to find an open minded way to work in a health care environment – this was the only UK programme available to develop his interests. Ian said,

“The MA has stimulated my interest in the dynamics of health care environments and the influence of belief, social environment and culture in decision making”

“I have really enjoyed the stimulating lectures and the challenge of thinking about topics in a totally different way, and my experiences with the distance learning aspects of the programme and my supervisors have been excellent. Once I complete my degree I intend to go on to teach others in the same way!”
