Once the selection decision has been reached, the Chair of the panel/Head of Department in conjunction with the Human Resources Officer will agree on the salary point to be offered to the successful candidate, taking into account all relevant information. It will be necessary to refer to the Starting Salary Guidance. Where a Human Resources Department representative is not present, no offer should be made until a salary has been agreed with the Human Resources Department. The Human Resources Officer will then contact, as soon as possible, the successful candidate to make an offer of employment.
Following confirmation from the successful candidate that they intend to accept the appointment, unsuccessful candidates will be notified of the outcome of their application.
The Human Resources Department will endeavour to contact all candidates, successful and unsuccessful, as soon as practically possible.
KEY POINTS
The Human Resources Officer will carry out all of the follow up work from the interviews. This means making the offer, contacting unsuccessful candidates and issuing the contract of employment.
The Human Resources Officer will also keep the Head of Department or School informed of start dates and any other issues.
