Izzy Phillips

Izzy Phillips_bigIzzy is a truly inspirational woman; she has taken a non-existing service and made it into an award winning student experience.  Izzy is the librarian at the Carmarthen Campus servicing the students who belong to the College of Human and Health Science.  The library was re-located from the University of Wales Trinity St David’s Campus to the purpose built subject library in 2012.  Izzy was appointed as the librarian and has supported both staff and students with research and academic studies.  Izzy goes the extra mile to support students with referencing and searching subjects for their assignments.  This was recognised recently when Izzy was nominated for and won the Excellence in Student Support Award 2015.  She was also a finalist in the Welsh Librarian of the Year 2015.

Her hard work and dedication is a trait we should all have, she has turned a once non-existing service into something that has been nationally recognised.  Izzy’s support to students is unquestionable, not only does she offer them all sweets after tough exams but she has created longer opening hours to ensure the students have access to the libraries facilities out of hours.

Izzy is a kind and welcoming person, she is a truly inspirational and valued member of the team.  Her enthusiasm and diligence is well recognised.  She is always looking for ways to improve the student experience, listening to what the students’ need is one of Izzy’s strengths and again, something we can all learn from.‌
