Swansea University values all its staff and students equally, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender assignment.
The University aims to create an environment in which all staff and students, whatever their sexual orientation or gender assignment, feel equally welcomed and valued, and in which homophobic behaviour is not tolerated. The University’s Sexual Orientation Policy aims to ensure that everyone is treated with dignity and fairness regardless of their sexual orientation.
In 2008 the University joined Stonewall as a diversity champion. Stonewall's Diversity Champions programme is Britain's good practice forum in which employers can work with Stonewall, and each other, to promote lesbian, gay and bisexual equality in the workplace.
The University has an established Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) Staff Network. The network exists to provide information and support to staff, and has links with the Student LGBT group and with Stonewall Cymru. We are pleased that Swansea University is a Stonewall Diversity Champion and the LGBT network works with the University to represent the interests of LGBT employees in our work environment and equal opportunity policies.
