Dignity at Work & Study

The University Dignity at Work & Study Policy applies equally to students and staff. Members of the University are to be treated with dignity and respect and to be protected from harassment and intimidation at work and study.

The University  Dignity at Work and Study policy applies equally to students and staff.  The aim of this Code of Practice is to promote the dignity of all students and staff at the University by eliminating all forms of offensive behaviour, and to establish a working and learning environment that is free from harassment and aggression.  Members of the University are to be treated with dignity and respect and to be protected from harassment and intimidation at work and study.

Harassment in any form will not be tolerated.  Incidents of harassment will be regarded extremely seriously and can be grounds for disciplinary action.  The University is committed to investigating allegations fully, fairly, quickly, sympathetically and confidentially. It will promote a climate to eliminate harassment and give dignity to all.

The University has a network of trained Harassment Advisers , whose role is to advise all members of the University community on the options for resolution that are available to them.  If anyone believes that they are experiencing any form of harassment or bullying, in the first instance they should contact any one of the harassment advisers in the network.

If any member of staff would like to train and join the Harassment Adviser Network, please contact a member of the Equal Opportunities Team.  Please note that the role of harassment adviser is purely voluntary and there is no remuneration for these duties.
